Kate and Logan met while in college at the University of Idaho (Moscow, ID). Logan was studying to earn this B.A. in English with a dual emphasis in creative writing and literature via the Marine Corps comissioning program, and Kate was earning her M.S. in Geography with an emphasis on climate.
They both decided to take a rock climbing and mountaineering class in the spring of 2021, where they officially met. The course concluded with a weekend long climbing trip in Coeur d'Alene, where Kate and Logan climbed together, and bonded over good conversation by the campfire. The climbing class may have ended, but their story was just beginning!
That summer, Kate left Moscow ID to river guide in Durango CO. However, she ended up cutting her guiding season short to return to Moscow and the guy she couldn't stop thinking about. They've been inseparable ever since!
Kate and Logan spent the remainder of their time in Moscow together forging a strong relationship, and having lots of fun and adventures along the way. They gardened (ask about their patio pepper garden!), went on backpacking trips, and continued to climb together. Logan would propose to Kate in the spring of 2024 in the same place where they had met climbing years ago.
March of 2024, Logan had graduated and commissioned as a Marine Corps officer, and it was time for him to report to Quanitico VA for the Basic Officer Course (TBS, which is ironically, not very basic). Just before his departure, Kate and Logan decided to get married! They headed to the courthouse in Lewiston ID for an intimate ceremony, and celebrated afterwards with mimosas at a nearby diner.
Following Logan's completion of TBS course, he then completed training for his new occupation as a Communications Strategy Officer. Kate remained in Moscow while Logan was in training, so this was their longest time apart- about 10 months total. Throughout Logan's time in training, Kate would take whatever opportunities she could to visit Logan out East, where they did some sightseeing and tried out a lot of local restaurants!
It was clear that all his hard work paid off when Logan received orders to report to Marine Corps base Pendleton, in Oceanside CA following his trainings. Kate and Logan are now together again in their home in Oceanside, CA!
